Day 11 – Losing yourself in a good book
You know the ones. You feel like a character in the plot. You immerse yourself in some other world. And when it’s over you feel like you’ve just parted with a good friend. It’s almost a weird sense of loss that you wish you could bring back.
You go searching for that new book to get lost in. That’s the power of reading, that search for the immersion in lost worlds.
It’s been a few months since I had that. Erin Morgenstern’s newest book, The Starless Sea, drew me in. No spoilers here, but I simply could not devour it fast enough. And while I knew it would eventually end, I had to know what happened next, despite not wanting the book to actually be over.
An afternoon spent immersed in another world through the eyes of a book – nothing but joy.
