‘Twas The Night Before Christmas – An Ode to My Teammates

https://sashagollish.files.wordpress.com/2016/12/cc1db-christmas-tree-runner.png?w=163&h=227‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro’ the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even an early morning runner Santa Klaus
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The athletes were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of #ChurchOfTheSundayLongRun danc’d in their heads,
In the morning we woke up
We started our days with warm coffee in a cup
Rol in his superhero suit, and I in my running clothes,
We got dressed for our workouts not questioning where to go
When looked out on the road and thought we were done for
But we thought, oh ok, let’s go explore
People came to the windows to see us fly by
They must have been thinking, ‘oh my gosh, why?!’
And of course, what would we say,
‘Because there just is no better start to Christmas Day.’
When out on the roads what should appear
A very beautiful, Toronto Reindeer!
As Rol left on his ride, so lively and slick,
https://i2.wp.com/pngimg.com/upload/snowflakes_PNG7535.pngI was excited to meet up with friends who are quick
More rapid than seagulls my running friends all came
People were shouting and calling us by name
Now! Maddy, now! Andrea, now! MC and Martha
On! Devito, on! Robby, on! Jake and Sacha
‘To the Top of the track! To the start/finish area.
We must do this workout so we can all get the merrier.’
When we looked up into the sun what should we see fly
But big white, fluffy stuff that falls from the sky
Round and round we went to feel like we flew
With Ross & Terry who were timing us too
And then with the snow twinkling, who should we see
But no one other than Olympian, G
As we the workout drew to a close
We were all nose-n-nose
We couldn’t wait to finish
Since this was a good test of our fitness
On the cool-down we laughed
As we got ready that night to share a yummy draft
Ross and Terry’s eyes – how they twinkled
It felt like magic fast-sauce during the workout had been sprinkledhttps://cdn.vectorstock.com/i/composite/16,12/running-shopping-christmas-reindeer-vector-1021612.jpg
With the cool down and stretches were all done
We looked at each other and knew it was time to head home
We hugged, we laughed, we smiled
Knowing that the workout was super worthwhile
Recovery was what was next up in our plan
But that was to be at home with our own clans
So when we all left and headed out of sight-
We screamed ‘Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.’
